I am Maria Monteiro, a nutritionist with a functional and integrative approach, focused on the person as a whole rather than just on symptoms or body weight.
In consultations, I use the **Functional Nutrition Matrix** as an assessment tool, aiming to understand the possible relationships between the different body systems. Factors such as diet, bowel function, sleep, stress, physical activity, hormonal balance, metabolic health, medical history, and lifestyle are analyzed.
Based on this comprehensive assessment, a personalized, realistic nutrition plan is created, tailored to each person's needs, goals, and routine.
Whenever appropriate, the intervention may include individualized nutritional supplementation and the suggestion of compounded formulas, defined according to the clinical and nutritional assessment, lab results, and the specific needs of each person.
When necessary, it may also be recommended to carrying out additional analyses or tests, in coordination with the doctor or other health professionals, allowing for a more complete evaluation and targeted intervention.
Body Composition Assessment
At TRUSTt Fluvial Clinic, body composition assessment can be done through two complementary methods:
**Caliper**
Allows measuring skinfolds in different areas of the body and estimating body fat percentage. It is especially useful for tracking subcutaneous fat changes and body composition alterations over time.
InBody
Through bioimpedance, it provides a more detailed analysis of body composition, assessing parameters such as muscle mass, fat mass, body water, visceral fat, and body segment distribution.
Combining these methods allows for a more complete and objective tracking of progress, making it easier to adjust the nutrition plan according to the results obtained.
The support is individualized and can have goals like weight loss, improving body composition, balancing metabolism, boosting energy, enhancing physical performance, and promoting health and well-being.
